Varnish
Varnish can enormously improve the overall performance of your sites. Find out how to make the most of its power.
Varnish is a content caching platform, which is occasionally referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy. It’s a web accelerator that can improve the speed of a site by up to one thousand percent, based on the content itself. Anytime a visitor accesses any page on a site that uses Varnish, the platform caches the page and delivers it instead of the web server when the visitor opens it again. In this way, the web browser request from the visitor is not handled by the web server and the page will open tremendously faster, as Varnish can deliver information many times faster than any server software. The result will be a considerably faster loading site, which leads to a much-improved website browsing experience. If any of the cached webpages is updated on the live site, the information that Varnish stores in its system memory is ‘refreshed’ too, so the website visitors will never end up seeing old content.

Varnish in Shared Website Hosting
If you host your websites in a
shared website hosting account with us, you’ll be able to add Varnish with a couple of clicks via your Control Panel. The platform comes as an optional upgrade with all our web hosting plans and you can choose the number of the websites that will use it and the total amount of system memory that will be available for the cached content. The two upgradeable features in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel are the number of instances and the amount of system memory and they’re not directly tied to each other, so you can decide whether you want plenty of memory for one large-sized website or less memory for multiple smaller ones. You can unleash the full potential of Varnish in case the websites use a dedicated IP address. Using the Control Panel, you can quickly start/reboot/stop an instance, delete the cached data individually for each site that employs the Varnish platform or check an exhaustive system log.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Varnish caching platform is an essential part of the default service set that you will receive if you decide to host your sites under a
semi-dedicated server account. You can activate it for any of your sites through our avant-garde Hepsia Control Panel. The default amount of memory that the Varnish platform can use to cache data is 64 MB, but if you decide that you want more, you can upgrade this amount of memory from the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. You can also upgrade the Varnish instances, in other words – the number of the sites that can use this platform simultaneously. Since these two features aren’t linked to each other, you can use several websites with the default memory or you can order more memory in increments of 32 megabytes and use all of it for one single Internet site. Varnish performs best if you use a dedicated IP address for the websites that utilize its power. Hepsia will offer you a simple way of rebooting any instance. On top of that, you’ll be able to clear the cached files with only one click of the mouse.

Varnish in VPS Servers
You can use Varnish with each of our
VPS server plans at no additional fee, as the caching platform is pre-installed and is included by default. The only requirement is that the virtual server must come with the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you’ll be able to activate Varnish for any of your sites with only a few clicks. Each VPS package includes a different amount of system memory for data caching purposes, but you will get no less than several hundred MB, which is sufficient even for several traffic-heavy Internet sites. Soon after you activate the Varnish platform, it will start caching the content that your visitors browse, so you’ll notice the significantly better Internet site load speeds and the lowered load on the virtual server very soon. Varnish will permit you to use a less costly VPS server, since you will not need that many resources to ensure the uninterrupted operation of your Internet sites even if you run large-size Internet sites with many visitors. Optimum results are accomplished if the websites that use Varnish also use a dedicated IP.

Varnish in Dedicated Servers
All
dedicated web hosting plans which are ordered with the in-house built Hepsia website hosting Control Panel come with Varnish, which is one of the pre-installed platforms that you’ll get with the dedicated server. The Varnish caching platform can be activated and managed with ease from Hepsia’s time and effort saving GUI and, with no more than one single click, you can check a detailed log, add or reboot an instance, clear the cache associated with any website and much more. Shortly after you activate the Varnish platform for a given domain or sub-domain, it will start caching the pages loaded by your site visitors and once it has cached enough content, you’ll observe a tremendously better website performance and a reduced load on your dedicated machine. With Varnish-dedicated system memory starting at 3 GB, you’ll be able to use the software platform for workload distribution purposes even if you run plenty of Internet sites on the server.
